What's a decent enough small car cam that I can stick up by windscreen mirror ... with a decent battery so no wires while in use. Was involved in road rage this morning & wish I'd had it captured.

A GoPro Hero/Session is probably your best bet here, for battery life

Any other dashcam will require a power cable that you can hiding in the roof liner/A pillar

I run myself an Mini 0803 which does the job just fine. Get an 0805 though

Running a cable is a lot easier than it looks

If you have to remember to charge it and stick it to the screen you won't bother after a while
