Dash Cam Mount

Hi there,

First post on PH. I bought a dash cam today (E-Prance Novatech). Like all of them it comes with a windscreen suction mount which I'm not sure about. In my driving instructor days the extra rear view mirrors were affixed the same way and it was not uncommon to have one land on your lap during a lesson. Are these thing more secure now or perhaps better with a bit of adhesive to ensure they stay put?

All thoughts appreciated.

Dashcams generally have a universal camera tripod hole or a slotted design.

I got something like this:
