I've got an '02 focus with abysmal radio reception so I'm considering putting a cheap DAB head unit in. How good are the DAB aerials? I have a heated front screen and know this can cause issues for some sat navs and was wondering if it will potentially be the same with a DAB aerial?

Thanks

Thanks, I think our aerial is knackered anyway as I installed a new mast but it made no difference.

If you've got a multimeter, unscrew the roof antenna and measure the resistance between the screw base (that the antenna screws into) and the end of the antenna lead that plugs into the radio (the inner conductor). Measure from the outside of the plug to chassis ground as well.
You'll need an external antenna for DAB. So either fix the FM antenna and use a splitter, or replace the FM antenna with a DAB one.

I've noticed that plugging my USB charger thingy into the 12v power socket makes the reception really bad. Is this likely to be the socket/ earths or the USB thingy?

The charger works so I've no reason to get another unless it's likely to be the culprit.
