Hi all,

im workig on android app that should make your phone works as car dashboard connected to internet. What you as a car user would find attractive to have in such type of application?

Curently it works as audio player, video dashboard camera, handsfree, shows current weather condition (in the future it will shot weaher condition in next 30 min)

Thnaks for any tip as I think even the most unrealistic thought can push you miles forward.

BR Peter

Whilst I wish you all the best of luck anything more than a radio is overkill in my opinion.

Volvo's Sensus has a parking app that works with most of the car parking providers so I can pay for my parking from the dash.

Fuel economy stats would be useful. A full set of readings from the engine management would be useful.

Right.. the radio is the main feature and the rest are running in backround and if needed they poop up. examnple. Theres a feature called traffic light and when you wait on red light the timer shows you how long it takes to green light. And 5 sec before itll beep once so you wont asleep in traffic light smile

Th parking spot is also in a plan. That is a cool feature but it has to be accepted by the car park providers. also to show all car parks in area with parking fees.

Dos it involves only privet car parks or also public park spots?

Am I the only person who can't see any point in this?

My central screen shows mapping, internet music streaming, DAB, internet radio, navigation, weather, news, sport, internet, lots of gauges I don't need, etc.

Why would I need a phone to do this?

Even if you do, it's not about having a single app, with modern multi-tasking phones, all the apps you could ever wish for are already available.

Not everybody have a car worth 40K. the older cars doesnt have this option. Even new cars have dash connected to internet but the whole system contains as you said too many features that are not needed and take teh attention off the road. Id like to make a phone based app that contain only apps that are needed and wont take attention off the road so Im just wandering what it might be. Also working with possibility to turn off the notification except phone calls. So no sams neither any other notifications
