Looking at seeing if it's worth getting in-car wifi for our work vans.
We currently have 5 vans on the road, and the guys use their own phones to access an app for their work, but this works free of internet connection, just upload and download at base when finished.
They are all provided with sat navs, but, they can link to maps for job addresses straight through our app, which is easier than typing in each address as you go. Using their phones as sat nav uses their credit, which is unfair, so if the van had wifi, it could make their life easier, using phones instead of phones and sat navs. I won't buy them phones as tried this once, and they got abused, with credit being hammered daily, and "lost" etc etc
What is the way to go for these, pay as you go dongles, or monthly, or is there a different solution? Or am I thinking this too hard?

which mapping app does your company system use to link to the job? I know some mapping applications, such as google maps allow the user to download a set area for offline use? just a thought?
Also, couldnt in van wifi be abused also? costs are roughly the same as a phone depending on usage.

You could put in a cigar lighter 'Roadfi' with a mobile broadband sim. Downsides are that 'free' wifi is going to be used for personal stuff, upsides are that they mostly work quite well.
EE & Three have them, or sim-free units are on Amazon.
