When I fitted a swanky Pioneer headunit, I also fitted a cheapo ebay reversing camera (replaces one of the number plate lights, very stealthy!).

Tested it whilst fitting, all working great... and Murphy's Law, once I had fitted all parts/trims back together, it no longer worked.

Except... if the car hasn't been used for a few days, camera works for the first few reverse attempts... without fail. Once driven for a while, I can select reverse and although the HU switches over, the camera just doesn't supply a picture.

This behaviour is remarkably consistent, which makes me think it must have an explainable and therefore fixable cause.

Anyone got any bright suggestions?

They're more in to random acts and appearances than predictable and repeatable high jinks.

Been giving this a bit of thought.

What's happening is...

When it doesn't feed a picture, there's nothing behind you.

At this point, you can reverse as fast as you like...smile
