Seems options are dwindling for an unfussy looking single DIN unit with a couple of mod cons. It's for an early MX5.

I'm really after something that looks reasonably in keeping with the car. Green illumination, and no dancing graphics or other poncery.

It needs to do bluetooth streaming and it would be neat if it had a rear USB for easy routing of a phone charger but that isn't essential.

Double DIN isn't totally out of the question but I haven't seen one yet that isn't just a big screen that would look totally out of place in an MX5.

Favourite so far is the Blaupunkt Bremen but at £300+ it's a heck of a lot to pay for something when I requirements are so low!

Backup option might be to make a up a DIN panel with a bluetooth amp attached to the back of it or even a remote amp with some basic controls wired to a DIN panel. I'm not sold on the idea though so would welcome some more off the shelf options. Secondhand would be fine too.

Alpine headunits used to be green. Pretty sure my Pioneer can be made green too but its set to orange to match my car

I have an Alpine that I bought about 14 years ago to match the orange lights in my M3. It's switchable to green also and as bought as unfussy as is possible in appearance. Used it for less than a year before selling the car and it's sat in it's box ever since. Let me see if I can dig out the model number for you. I'm not sure if it's Bluetooth though....

Thanks all. Definitely need bluetooth. It's really the only thing I need as I just listen to podcasts or music from my phone these days.

Greza, that Blaupunkt Stockholm unit on your link looks ideal. I'd missed that there was a multi colour option. All of the Blaupunkt units I'd looked at look identical to that but are the cheaper variant with only white illumination. Think that will be the one. Many thanks.

That seller has a wide range of other retro headunits:

I have used dynamic sounds before and they quickly delivered the right product.

The green is not as bright as in the picture.

You need a seperate bluetooth adapter for it though.

Cheers. Looks like the Skagen will be perfect.

Link doesn't seem to work for me. But no onboard bluetooth isn't going to work for me anyway unfortunately. It's really my only requirement other than being green and not too bling.

I have a Bremen in my 928:

It's a bit steep but fits the 90s vibe very well!!

I have a Pioneer single DIN HU that has any colour illumination you like! I had it in my old Puma and it didn't look out of place IMO.

I'll dig it out of my garage later this morning and post up the model number so that you can check the look and specs. If you like it then you can have it for the cost of postage.

No problem. It's just sat in my garage, I'd much rather see it go to use than, inevitably, end up in the bin in 10 years time!

Let me know if it's any good to you and I'll get a price for postage thumbup

Looks like that could be just the ticket. If it’s not for any reason I’ll make sure I regift it. Really kind thank you. I’ll email you now.
