I read somewhere that there was a new release in april. Is the 500 that new release, with the 300 being the older version?

Still reading PH/reviews, but it looks like the one to go for (500). Im not interested in a pda or 2.5 gig hard drive, open to choosing another model/brand, but the tom tom go seems to be a best choice.

One negative review I did read though, was that a lot were being returned. One chap returned 4 units, and the courier confirmed that they were problematic. Not sure what to make of that review, but still reading.

Had mine for around 6months, never had a glitch or problem nor has the free camera database give me a non warning or likewise.

All i hear is of good reviews.

When you've bought the unit, what yearly subscriptions are there for downloads? New post codes etc? The B2 costs £50 a year, if scamera downloads are free, it might be an idea to sell the B2... pehaps?

That said, the B2 is a dedicated camera detection unit (congestion zones too). If the GO's greatest use is navigation, is the the case that the B2 is a better updated and reliable camera detection unit?

Also, what other updates do you need to download, with the GO? Or is it something that only ever needs to be updated if you are traveling to a new housing estate which wasnt there 6 months ago? And what do updates cost?

Another quick question - does the tom tom need to be on the windscreen to receive a signal, or can it be hidden out of sight within driver view. Still reading the posts on PH, not sure where the aerial is fixed in the unit like the road angel scamera detector, or a seperate wired unit like the B2. Id rather not have to stick it to the windshield.
