Hi,

I'm in the market for a new GPS based speed camera detection device and have found the many pages of sales prose both confusing and in some cases inaccurate.

I'm after 3 features which in order of importance are:

1. GPS based (not laser) warning of mobile speed camera sites, which is prepopulated with all the site locations from the various published lists on public domain safety partnership sites. I believe RA Professional has this, but I am uncertain if these sites are in the Origin360 databse used by the Pogo Alert???

2. I make quite a few handsfree calls when on the road on business, and I find alerts from the GPS detectors a significicant distraction. Therefore a threshold whereby the device does not alarm when you drive at or below the speed limit adresses this issue. RA Professional does not have this feature, it just changes the visiual from green to red. It is documented on the www that Pogo does mute at legal speeds. Can anyone verify?

3. Battery. I will hardwire the device in my regular car but I also have a Caterham and would not want to be fitting a fag lighter socket to that. A unit which can self power for a few hours spirited driving would be very good.

So I've ruled out the RA Professional on the basis it does not mute the alarms when my driving is in compliance with the speed limit. I did try the RA Professional, butteh first one I got failed to report any speed cameras, which after a failing Classic RA and a New RA, plus some -ve comments on the web leaves me wondering how reliable their devices are.

The Pogo I just don't have a firm answer to point 1 above. Pogo also does not have a battery IIRC.

This leaves the Mini Coyote, which is a great idea, but many people need to have/use them before they are effective. So far I think they have poor market penetration/share. The Mini Coyote also looks a bit dated in the photos I've seen with its 1 colour led display.

I'd be interested in anyone who owns a device which answers points 1, 2 and 3 with a yes.

Price is less important, as it is livelihood which is a stake here.

Did you want "just" a speed camera device, or one combined with the sat nav?
If the latter, consider a snooper sirius Proline 200.

About 3 hours battery time.

Its been very reliable so far.

At very slow speeds, the camera warning is muted.
I have a feeling that you can silence the camera warning at higher speeds just by touching the screen, but I am not sure to be honest. If you are interested, I can do an experiment and let you know.
