£300 which system?
Discussion
All the Tomtoms are excellent.
Difference between 730 and 740 is that 740 has 'Live' - this is a subscription service for £8 per month to give better quality and constantly updated camera, traffic and fuel price data. It works with a sim card in the gps itself, and although it has not been out long it seems to be very good.
Other minor differences are a better speaker, and a different, but not necessarily better, screen mount system.
If you are not going to pay the sub for Live, you are better off buying the 730.
By comparison with the XL Europe, the 730 gives you Bluetooth handsfree phone, voice destination entry (unlike my BMW system it works pretty well), IQ routes giving supposedly better routing, advanced lane guidance, and other nicer bells and whistles. If you feel like spending the price of the 730, you are getting a fair amount extra, but if the price of the XL Europe is enough to spend, you are buying a decent navigator.
