Any TomTom experts around?

Just got my shiny new TomTom this morning and tto my annoyance it seems this one doesn't have intinerary planning.
Apparently the old version did. Is there anyway I can get hold of the old software and run that with the new maps? Failing that can I upgrade to a version that does have it?

Done a bit of searching and it seems the new TomTom software 8.x doesn't support itinerary routes.
If you originally had an earlier version you can go back (before 7.x), but it doesn't work with units that started off with the recent software - they just crash. So, sending it back.
Does anyone know which new units support that function?
Might be worth looking here www.gpsunderground.com as they have forums which are VERY useful for this sort of thing.

Are they still for sale? Wouldn't object to moving up the range a little if that was the other option. Had contemplated things like Lane Assist.
Hpw about this TomTom 530 on Amazon?mmm-five said:
Sounds like you need on of the x30 or X40 models - the x30 are the slightly older ones, but that's what I've got and I know they support routes & itineraries as I use both quite often.
x30 are new (but are physically identical to x20 models but with new firmware). If you can still get an x20 then it can be upgraded to an x30 by downloading the later firmware. The x40 models are the ones that run TomTom LIVE services (like HD Traffic etc).

I've recently bought a refurb GO720 from totalpda for £99 with itinery planning, I found a new TomTom RDS-TMC receiver on Amazon for £13.50. By then logging on to TomTom Home, using the Latest Maps Guarentee to download any new map versions and the software upgrade to give me IQ routing and Motorway Guidance I've ended up with the same as a Go730T but for well over £100 less!! Worth looking on their site to see what they've got and the technical help they give is excellent.

I think the XL models have itinerary planning. Certainly itineraries work on 920/930/940 using the latest 8.x version of software.
Phoned up Tom Tom in the end.The guy there eventually said that the One 3rd Edition and One 4th Edition have that disabled, but all other have ti. That said, I'm not sure how much I trust that statement - initially he didn't know what I was tlaking about and it was only after the second time he put me on hold to check with a colleqague that he discovered the real story.
So, I've returned the One to Amazon (which coincidentally still advertises it as having itinerary planning ) and ordered an XL. Fingers crossed that'll have it, because I liked the rest of the basic Tom Tom and they seem to be better support for updates, tweaks, routes etc. than the Garmins.
