Anyone got it? I've just bought a car with it fitted and wondered how good it is etc? Is it worth throwing a few quid at a PAYG plan just in case?

I have TomTom etc but just in case I'm about and it either fails or I forgot to pick it up on the way out.

I used to install it...

I think it's a good system.
Do you have just the "Call" button or the optional screen?

If I bought a car with it in I'd certainly use it rather than take a sat nav with me.
Sometimes it's nice to just press the button, actually speak to a human being and give the address without having to input it yourself.

Also it can save time becasue obviously no-ne operates a portable sat nav when driving but you can with the Smart Nav button. wink

Just the button in mine.

Can you confirm that when it bleeps(about 3 or 5 times, varies) its a speed camera warning? It seems to do it about 400yds before a camera but I can't be absolutely sure. I also thought that it was a paid for option, could it be that the previous owner has forgotton to cancel his Direct Debit?

I've not spoken to them yet and if someone is paying for it...... biggrin ( Or is that naughty???? )

Sorry only just seen this...

Yes the beeping is the Safe Speed speed camera warning.

Three beep warning is to tell you you are approaching a camera zone. Five beeps start immediately before you enter the zone.

If you are exceeding the speed limit for that zone the unit will beep constantly until you reduce to a "safe speed".

HTH

ETA: If you contact Smart Nav Control using the button, tell them yiu have bought the car (and confirm vehicle deatils, etc.) you get one month usage free of charge.

May be wrong ,but can you only have so many contacts or "button hits"a month?

There is a "Fair usage" policy but you would struggle to breach it.
I now of self employed couriers that use Smart Nav for every drop.

My apologies. The fair usage policy must have changed since I was involved in installing it (2005ish).

In those days there was no set amount of "routes".
Apologies for the confusion. smile
