Ok i have put this on the computer n gadgits forum but no sucsess!
i bought a tomtom one in the states last year, all fine and dandy.
got home and bought the western europe maps, again all fine.
Last week the mrs uses the satnav and breaks the charging lead! no probs i thought i will charge up via the computer. i plug in tomtom and it asks if i want to update. So i did!!! Now it says 'No Maps found' when i start it up with the SD card in! strangly when its plugged into the computer 'tomtom home' to view maps western europe is there but when i click 'operate' it says 'No Maps found'
Any suggestions??
it seems to me that the maps are still there but the sat nav has stopped reconising them.
Regards
Andy

Did you backup the device on your PC when you bought the new maps

if so then pull all the info off the satnav and re-install from the saved copy, 9 times out of 10 this works

Because you didn't back up your TomTom you have lost all maps forever. It's not a disaster though. Just connect to TomTom home on your PC, with your TomTom connected by USB cable to your PC. Your TomTom "Device" has a unique code which TomTom BV (Netherlands) will recognise as a legitamately purchased map. Give them a telephone call on the International Number in "Help" - "Contact Me".

Failing that, it is dead simple (but time consuming). Make sure that the latest TomTom home application (2.6) is downloaded & installed on your PC. Google "Bitlord" & install the Bitlord download torrent client onto your PC. Open "Bitlord" & select "Search". Type in TomTom. Then search for the map(s) you want & download to your PC. Plug your TomTom into the PC & select "connect to computer" on the TomTom screen. Go to "My Computer" & right click on the "TomTom removable device". Select FORMAT. Format the TomTom disk. Then switch the TomTom off. Restart it, select "connect to computer". Open TomTom Home on your PC. It will automatically download the latest TomTom application onto both your PC & TomTom device.

When this has all finished you need to unplug then replug your TomTom USB cable to the PC & select "connect to computer" on the TomTom. You then search for where your new map was installed on your PC, right click on it & select "send to" - whatever your TomTom's removable disk drive letter is.

Simples - say the Meercats.....
