When is a Garmin charging?

Silly question perhaps but as there is no power charging LED indicator (that I can see?) on my 660 how do I know that the unit is actually charging? OK, so the screen says 'going to charge mode' and then goes blank but this doesn't prove it is still charging after that.

Every other device I have ever used has a screen icon or external LED to show charging is taking place.

When there is no battery display on the menu screen, or when the battery display has the fork-of-lightning power emblem over it.

After the screen goes blank, just touch it and it will display 'Charging battery. Press Power key to turn on' (or words to that effect).
