Finally gave in and bought a satnav off eBay, good price, but obviously a discontinued model as it isn`t up to date with new road improvements (most notably the A1(M) where it crosses the M62). Can anyone tell me if it is possible to update it without spending a fortune...??

The maps are normally £49 from the Navman store, it doesn't list the 530 though. The one on Ebay is a 2005 map. Best thing to do is sell it on Ebay and try to get a current one. I've bought & sold a few recently, new S50 models are going for about £60 or so with the 2009 UK maps. Decent enough model but you need the optional cradle to get the traffic updates which is another £20.

I used to have it's baby brother and spoke to Navman who said they could supply me with a 2006 card but that was about it really.

They would take it in trade in though on a new unit, there's a voucher code they do/did
