Welcome to my little guide, its taken me a few hours of googling but I have got there on how to change and load itn files on to a garmin sat nav there may well be other ways but this is the way i found take a littel while first time with all the downloading but after that it a very very quick process.

Firstly you will need mapsource, if you dont already have it then here is how to download free you have to download the training centre first

Download the Training Center:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.js...

Install it

Then download the MapSource update:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.js...

Install it.

You now have full blown MapSource, enjoy!

Next you will need to download a route converter i use http://www.routeconverter.de/downloads/en as it uses google maps to show, route and plan on but also convert.

firstly download and install all of the above, then open your route .itn in the route converter, once opened save it as a .gdb file

now open map source and open your newly saved.gdb file. the basic map on mapsource is very basic this is why i use the route converter as you can see much more detail on it.

Next in mapsource on top bar menu click trasfer and then send to device, this sends it to a kind of holding area (my data folder) on your garmin unit obviously making sure that you have your unit connected.

Once transferred over switch on your garmin unit and select tools, my data and then your route should be saved in there, all you need to do now is import it onto your unit and hey presto your route should now appear in your custom route folder on your garmin unit

Hope this has been of help as i know there a fair few of us who have garmin units and loading hoon routes was a PITA for me as it meant maunally doing it all, but not no more!!

Let me know if this has worked for you or been of help?

Does Tyre work with your Garmin?

Cracking bit of software.

Much easier to use that if you can.

Try Googling a conversion program called ITNConv. Will accept files in a variety of formats, Tom Tom and Garmin included, and will convert as required.

I use it to convert routes planned on my PC using MS Autoroute for use on my Garmin.
