Well he's certainly not wasting his time thinking up clever book titles...

Just received a call from John mirroring the comments of above and also offering futher driving instruction.

He's renewed his ADI for another 4 years so is still instructing.

Must say although I last met John 8 years ago, he was on good form and very chatty!!

Any idea about the content? How will it differ from other similar books? I'm not knocking it, just curious as I may be interested in buying it.

I've seen some of the drafts, looks like it will be very detailed and blow Roadcraft out of the water.

John is still instructing, he accompanied me on a track day a few months back and was still on serious form. The guy is a bit of a legend in my opinion.

I've also had a brief preview of the manuscript draft. I think it will be a fascinating book because I gather it will also contain a number of anecdotes from John's near 50 year career as an instructor and co-driver.

I've pre-ordered on Amazon - not one to miss.

As Roadcraft is one of the dullest books I've ever read, I should hope it does.

-I've added it to my wish list on Amazon.

John stated it was some 85,000 words

I've just had an email from Amazon cancelling my (pre) order for this book stating that it is "No longer available" Anyone got any inside info on this? Still being advertised on other sites but not in stock.

I'm intrigued as to how it will differ from (the non-Porsche bits of) his fairly comprehensive Porsche book.

Thanks for that link. Strange that Amazon should cancel the order when the book is still coming out.

Me too, but you can sign up with Amazon to be notified when it's available. It could simply be that John didn't finish writing or editing the book on time!

I have just come off the phone with John. There have been a few delays with the publishers and he is hoping to hear back from them this week with a view to it being released imminently.

Also, John is keen for business having just renewed his ADI and asked if I would post up his details (he's not a big fan of computers!). Anyone interested in half/full days of roadcraft +/- proving ground or track work, or his own full HPC course should contact John on 01780 763997. He charges £300/day but I would say he is worth it.

Thanks
Steve
