Anybody on here a member?

Submitted my membership and waiting for a response. I know they are struggling for observers but the admin side seems a bit slow too.

Any advice?

Guess not.

Really dissapointed there isn't a ROSPA drivers club in the whole of North Yorks.

Decided to look further afield an join West Yorks. After a strugle getting hold of anybody I did finally manage to speak to someone who said they are oversubscribed and would have to wait for training.

Don't mind waiting and wanted to get my name on the list so sent them payment as requested. Got an email confriming membership on 7/4 and havn't heard anything since.

Have sent messages to both the training officer and the treasurer but no response whatsoever.

Disappointing frown

A few years ago I thought there was a RoSPA group based around Malton. One of the prominent figures at the time was Mike Borrows, and I think he lives/lived in Beverley Road, Norton, Malton. His telephone number was 01653 695093. HTH.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Thanks for the info.

Have tried that group, unfortunately it has shut down. Only other option for me is Hull but a really don't fancy an hour each way on an awful road littered with speed cameras to get there.

Well following email to their training officer on 8/4 which I got no response I sent a further email on 20/4 to both the training officer and the treasurer.

Again no response.

I've got a landline number for the training officer, no answer but have left a voicemail for him. Hopefully I'll get a call back in the next few days. If not I guess I'll have to get onto Rospa and see about getting my money back. It's only £20 but if they can't provide a service they should refund.

Bit disappointed frown

Well finally got in contact smile

Chap had been on night hence taking a few days to return voicemail. Never got the emails, not sure why they're still giving it out and showing it on the website as he said it hadn't worked for a while!

Anyway, was good to be able to get started, initial drive on Friday.

Well, just an update on this.

Finally got a drive with an observer in June (2 months after the assessment). Went quite well with the promise of an email to set up the next session. I knew the chap was going on holiday but it was a further three weeks before I heard back from him.
He suggested some dates, I replied within a few minutes, no response.

The suggested dates came and went and no confirmation. A week or so after I dropped him an email saying thanks for your time but it doesn't seem to be working out, best wishes. All very polite. Still haven't heard back.

Very disappointing. I know folk are volunteers and have their own lives but this group really needs some organisation and direction. Five months wasted.

I've been in touch with the East Riding group. Much further away but seem more organised. Hopefully I can progress there.

Hi Rick101 - why not step it up with the IAM, "Masters" will take your skills to a much higher level.

Wasn't offered. Just a push to be an observer which I'm not overly keen on. They have also changed to the system where the group only meets once a month which makes it difficult to catch up with everyone. Can't say I was excited to see the big event in the latest newsletter was an evening walk around the city looking at historical buildings. Reinforces the perception it's a load of old fuddy duddies.

I would do masters but I'd like to look at some other systems too. IAM is good, but it's only one persrspective. I learnt a huge amount in just a few hours with a chap from ADUK/HPC, sadly that was just a one off favour.

Hoping East Riding group can help me out and I can find some like minded people.

TBH - if you are IAM, just do some practice and go for RoSPA - it's perfectly possible ...
