Early morning syndrome

Has anyone noticed that very early in the morning drivers don't look for other
road users.
I was a guard on London Underground, doing dead early shifts, and drivers would pull out of junctions without looking.
Also not bother to look at roundabouts at between four or five in the morning,
because they presumed the road was empty! Stupid and dangerous.

I don't think its something particularly unique to early morning.

Last night I nearly had a collision because someone decided to pull into a filter lane at the last minute, without looking. If I hadn't been aware and alert to the possibility, I'd be without a car right now.

I'm inclined to agree with the post above, shift work allows me the luxury of driving at all manner of times. I think it's just the norm now where people couldn't care less about other cars until it virtually comes down to a crash.

I find evening rush hour can be bad, not just for dimwitted and careless driving but for deliberately aggressive driving. People take out all their pent up frustration onto the road. They can't tell their annoying manager or that irritating customer to fk off, so they take out all their rage on other people on the road instead.

I was sat in a cafe the other day and the guy on the next table had a Primark price tag hanging down his back from the collar of his jumper while his wife had such low slung jeans half her arse was on display as she sat down. Many people just seem totally unaware of themselves generally, so it's no surprise they're so unaware and wrapped up inside their own heads on the road.

Years ago a cop car almost took me out on a roundabout driving like nobody else would be on the road at 6am Sunday morning. I was on 2 wheels.

There's also a lot if roundabouts near me where people don't look and just join them at full speed hoping for the best. It's terrifying.

You could say the same about nightshift workers.

Going home in the morning you are tired and might have to drive a while to get home.
