Most of the time I do H&T and DDC into the lower gears (2nd and 1st), whether driving sedately in traffic, or on track (then DDC all gears). My main argument is that, except at the change down itself obviously, I'm always in the correct gear to make forward evasive action. Basically another degree of freedom/safety. Though not a skill I would recommend or consider a must have, it takes its fair time to master and not all cars are receptive for it. But if you do master it, I see no reason to discredit it as done in mentioned opinion.

I know someone who ended up on their roof in a ditch wearing suitable shoes who wasnt rev matching or heel and toeing.

Using the logic in the article, this one person is proof you should wear unsuitable foot wear and heel and toe at all times

Intend: OED...Have in mind what you intend to achieve, plan a particular use for something.

They don't intend to drive too fast because they don't believe that the speed they intend to do *is* too fast.
