3 point turn - Right Of Way

Hello, Looking for some advice please.

I frequently perform a 3 point turn outside my home on a quiet residential street.
My question: During the manoeuvre, cars sometimes approach and try to squeeze in front or behind whilst I'm across both lanes.
Who has right of way?

I've been driving 20+ years and I'm sure I remember that the manoeuvring vehicle has right of way.
Am I right in my beliefs or are there certain guide lines to the 3 point turn regarding which vehicles have the right of way?

Never heard that you have priority doing a 3 pt turn - I would expect the opposite.

Is visibility restricted so that you are unable to see them before you start the manoeuvre.

When I teach learners I instruct that as the manoeuvring car you should "give way" unless other road users have clearly stopped to allow you to continue.

So

360 deg check at start, drive to other side of road, another 360 check to check safe to continue, then reverse, another 360 check, then next shunt etc...

The "turn in the road" is not part of the learner test any longer, but I still teach it as a useful skill.

For me, if someone is trying to do a 3 point turn it is always amusing to watch how rubbish most are at doing it

Whenever people do that on a main road I ignore them and go in front or behind them, and they have to wait for me to go past. Selfish tts

Only if they are trying to do it in 3. As you should know, it is not called a ‘three point turn’.

I regularly reverse into the space in front of my house where cars park “end on”, ie at right angles to the kerb. The road isn’t that wide (the spaces are marked out this way) so impossible to drive past me whilst starting this, but some do try to roar past as soon as there is a half inch clear. Never happened to me, but some have misjudged and there have been numerous minor prangs. I pull across when clear and usually if someone comes (corner is close by) along they stop. I make sure I then move in a way which keeps them blocked until I’m in.

Surely the issue is risk avoidance, not who has priority. If I come upon someone doing a 3 (or 5, or 7 etc) point turn in the road I will let them complete it unless they clearly indicate that they have stopped and are waiting for me to pass. In particular I would not go behind them and risk them reversing into me- nowadays some people reverse just using the reversing camera which may give limited view to the side.

On the same basis if it were me doing the 3 point turn, I would allow other traffic past unless they clearly intended to wait.

Either way, it is a negotiation.
