*On-limit vehicle handling* how do you manage this on roads with speed limits?

It's an essential skill that you should keep in reserve in case things go wrong. The thread is here...

To answer your question, though - it's very easy to overstep a cars limits whilst still remaining within the constraints of speed limits, believe me.

I'll have a look at that, but @ 30mph and @ 60mph there's not much to go wrong at those speeds in a modern car? when you say on-limit I mean 140mph down wet county roads on 99% of the vehicle's limit, that is more like on-limit driving *very deadly and likely to land one in prison on a road* hence the question.

Never tried drifting it around a roundabout (within the speed limit) in a powerful rear wheel drive car ?

(Disclaimer - Not suggesting you do, but just illustrating that it's quite possible to go beyond the limits of normal grip on a road & remain within the speed limit)

Get an old 205 gti and try backing off/ braking in the wet on a deserted NSL/40 roundabout. If it still grips, it's better than my old one was!
