To answer your question, though - it's very easy to overstep a cars limits whilst still remaining within the constraints of speed limits, believe me.

I'll have a look at that, but @ 30mph and @ 60mph there's not much to go wrong at those speeds in a modern car? when you say on-limit I mean 140mph down wet county roads on 99% of the vehicle's limit, that is more like on-limit driving *very deadly and likely to land one in prison on a road* hence the question.

Never tried drifting it around a roundabout (within the speed limit) in a powerful rear wheel drive car ?
(Disclaimer - Not suggesting you do, but just illustrating that it's quite possible to go beyond the limits of normal grip on a road & remain within the speed limit)
