All those who regularly post here could meet up for an on road, within the law, and then track session.

So, Midlands best?
Some places there for the track bit.

I'd give up some of my time if someone wants to organise it.

I am serious about this, partly because there was a thread in Trackdays about Police Drivers and Trackday afficiandos getting together.
It seemed to come to nought.
Yet it seems to me that this is the sort of thing PistonHeads should be encouraging.
I don't think competition should come into it but that learning, with a bit of fun on track, should be the emphasis.
We are approaching the end of the competition season for the tracks so, with enough interest, we might be able to keep costs reasonable.
So, do I contact PistonHeads Central to make this Forums wide?
Or, try to organise something within this area only?

I could certainly be interested. I guess it all depends on how many are needed to make the day work. Do you have in mind just a track day or on-road driving and a social as well? We could take it in turns to coach (and argue with!) each other on the finer points of gear changing, commentary, limit points etc. etc. Should be fun!

Yes, on road and track with, of course, a social.
Debating, face to face, that which we discuss here, would be so interesting.
I'm sure we could all learn much from each other.

Like Reg, I'm happy to help out. Can we really get a sane amount of road coaching, and a track session in the same day?

I'd suggest a road day is considerably easier to organise, cheaper, better for getting people to commit to, and furthermore the cost of using the local Tesco/Pub/Hotel carpark to meet in considerably cheaper and subject to fewer timing constraints than a track.

I wouldn't be interested in track time, but I'd happily participate in road sessions - if you could put up with an established troublemaker. laugh

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I'd absolutely love some kind of a meet - that'd be brilliant!

Sounds great. I too would be more interested in road-based activities.

If there's more of an interest in road-based, I can organise a day near me - I have routes and everything else sorted out - a handy curry house for 'debrief' and good links into the strategic route network (It's based just off the A1 in ST Neots)

I could be interested in road-based, especially as I am hoping to upgrade the Alfa to a TVR in the near future. Although I actually think it would be more useful in the Alfa as it's easier to find yourself in the wrong gear and then mess up braking etc as a result.

I'd be very interested in this, even if it was just to chat with like minded people. thumbup

Lets not just talk about it, lets get it sorted out! Sooner, the better IMO smile

Cheers

OK then, I'll volunteer to organise one, based in Cambridgeshire. The only question is date. As it seems like we want this asap, does anyone interested in coming have weekends in October that they can't make?

I'm available all weekends as far as I know, although if I can get funds together I'm doing a trip to Monaco with a friend that will cover the 13th/14th weekend.
