What caused you problems Dave ? smile
It's not a matter of me being caused problems. What I'm concerned about is:

a) figuring out why I'm failing to see the benefit to me of doing certain things differently, and

b) seemingly being an awkward blighter who keeps questioning what the experts are advocating, especially when they give up their time to try to help. I feel to be a bit of a pest and a distraction rather too often for comfort.

I suppose it's all food for thought, but I'll have to come back to this later.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

As one of those who drove with you Dave I can confirm that far from finding you a pest it was a pleasure. The essence of good driving is sound observation and anticipation. These are much more important than following the rules of a set of driving clubs, all of which have derived their ideas on good technique from Roadcraft, the police drivers handbook.

As VH has explained to us in the past, the Roadcraft approach has been developed for a specific set of reasons - principally so that a wide range of people can be taught to drive safely and swiftly while under pressure, within an economic time frame. You may not drive the Roadcraft way, but that does not stop you from driving well.

I don't think anyone is trying to persuade you to adopt a more Roadcraft approach unless you choose to do so, and speaking personally far from finding you a distraction I enjoyed seeing how you do things. I hope that you too either enjoyed the day, or got something out of it, or both.
