My one day course - review.

I booked myself into a one day course at my local (Knockhill) racetrack, for a bit of edu-tainment 
Half of the day was out on the road with an ex Class1 police guy, then we were on the track for a few laps and then the skidpan, along with a few other bits 'n' bobs. It was so much fun. I'll stick mainly to reviewing the road driving part, since I figure that's what you guys are most interested in.
After a brief assessment of my driving, the instructor took the wheel for a while, demonstrating a few points. I'd never been in a car driven by an advanced driver, and it was mindblowing. Smooth, fast and safe progress along some A and B roads. Many points were brought up, mainly about reading the road ahead, signs, paint, etc, as well as using the limit point of a curve. I daresay it's all pretty basic to you guys, but I had a blast.
A few questions I had related to the cars DSC. I've never felt the car "get away" from me, but have always been curious as to what it's like with and without DSC. So off we went to a big carpark/paddock, and got in a few tight turns with the tires screeching. Like I say, awesome fun, but also very educational to know what it feels like and how to correct any mistakes.
The track was awesome too. It was my first time ever on a track, but I'm sure you guys know exactly what that feels like. The whole day was seriously brilliant. Who'd have thought something could be educational and fun too?

£200 is quite reasonable for that type of day, certainly when compared against similar events.
You can go on to do the IAM's Skill for Life course for £85, or consider Clubdriving (www.clubdriving.co.uk) as an alternative.
I still think the IAM course is worth doing since it's such good value for money. Charges are going up in April, IIRC.

This is precisely the kind of course I'd like to attend - a mixture of track / provate driving and road time. I was geoing to go for the 1stlotus days but if it's roughly the same price this would be preferable. Can you give any details of how you found out about the course please? And are there other locations other than Knockhill - while I'm sure it's a grand place it's chuffing miles away!
