Hi all,

Is Club Driving still going? If so, what do you know about it?

Cheers

Yes still going, and growing in numbers. Website does appear down, I'll mail Mark (owner).

What would you like to know ...

In the past year, there have been several "master classes" a couple of hours of classroom discussion on the subject (eg. cornering), followed by lunch and then hit the road. 2 of 3 to a car (dependant on numbers) with either a club instructor or mentor. So far, I believe all the feedback on these events has been positive. There is an additional charge for these events, as the room in the hotel and lunch needs to be paid for, but the guys keep coming back, so obviouly think it is worth it.

There has been a "holiday" the the Isle of Man, wasn't there myself, but again enjoyed by those who went.

As a member (£30/year) you also get access to a mentor 'whenever you like', so similar in setup to IAM and an observer, but the standard of the mentors is um, higher.

The events centre around Great Malvin, but I believe there is talk of a possible rounf the uk event, where a group will spend a few days in each area with members local to said location joining in. Not sure of details, but I suspect it will feature lots of on road training, meals and beers ...

It's purley a driving club, age of car/model is not important, and I can honestly say that there are some amazing drivers with some very high standards of driving. For £30, even if you only go out with a mentor once or twice you've had value for money.

Hope this helps ...

Thanks mph999 for informing me of the website problem. I'd inadvertently deleted the 'index' page when I recently uploaded changes to the website - doh! It's now working fine.

Yes SVS the club is still going strong, with a growing calendar of driving events and driving holidays. Our mentoring programme has become the backbone of membership, and affords members free coaching along the road to driving mastery. There's more information at clubdriving.co.uk
