I just bought some Sparco drift cat (the 2nd version I think) and I love them, I don't think they're too ott, I wore them down the pub yesterday and went out last night, they're nice and comfy. Think they look nice in suede too.

The back of the heel is rounded like the pilotti ones, which helps you pivot and feel the pedals really nicely. I've never owned a pair of driving shoes before though, so I might be talking nonsense wink

Not sure how the sides will stand upto heel and toe'ing though...

I have a pair. The soles are too thick.

Those Drift Cats look ace - exactly what I need. Any idea if they retail at any high street shops? I'd like to try a pair first. Looked at some Pumas on Monday and they were amazingly light - perfect for driving. Just a shame they were finished in vinyl-type leather. I'll keep looking!

I haven't seen them in any High Street shops of late, but apparently www.mandmdirect.co.uk have some Puma shoes pretty cheap - not sure if they include the Drift Cats though.

I would expect the puma store in sheffield to have them

Puma speed cats for me, very comfy and allow great feedback
I have a pair of speedcats for dirving the westfeild.
- I needed something very narrow to fit between the pedals, and for £25 you can beat the price.
- The sole is thicker than the karting boots i use to wear when karting, which i presume are simular to grown up race-boots but a little cheaper if you dont need msa certifcation etc.

Otherwise my normal footware is cheap flat bottomed skateshoes globes/vans etc which is what i wear for my mountain biking and driving the tintop.

Reading with interst though becuase i might invest in something thiner soled. If i can find something under £100 that is!!!

I have just bought a pair of these, and I must say that they are most excellent. Very comfortable, beautiful soft leather and a nice thin sole for the pedals, yet not too thin that you can't walk around in them.

I recently bought a pair of Karrimor Travel shoes for £18. They were a bargain and are much better than the steel toed safety boots I wear when driving to work!
Tested them straight out of the box by having a great drive around lakes Windemere and Coniston smile

I like Adidas Spezial shoes. Retro trainers with a thin sole and not at all "pixie boot" looking.

No need for the real driver's shoes unless you are racing and need the FIA fireproof rating.
Love old Adidas trainers and have collected quite a few pairs over the years none of which I drive in (like to keep them looking new - especially my Dublins and Stockholms).

I like driving in lace up plimsolls - light, thin, cheap and fairly cool looking IMO

I race in Sparco racing boots, but they're not as feelsome as the Puma driving shoes, I guess that's the fireproof layer?
Have you tried kart boots for road driving? They do not need to be fire proof so are probably a bit thiner and a lot cheaper.

I have the top of the range Sparco kart boot for when I race karts and this cheaper version in black for general driving

Hadn't seen the updates to this thread... I got my drift cats from 'Soletrader' in Derby, in the westfield centre.

They were £60 I think, got them on now, uber comfy smile

link to the Derby store: http://www.westfieldderby.co.uk/store_profile2-426... - maybe look for one round your way?

My feet appear to have been stolen from a duck, so most trainers aren't really wide enough for me so I tend to go for a pair of well worn in Vans style skate shoes (lace up). If anything I have found the width to make heel and toe a lot easier.

I've driven in everything from trainers to 4'' heels. Only thing I'd NEVER drive in again is wellies...especially ones 4 sizes too big. Scariest drive I've ever had, til I got 300m down the road and pulled over to go barefoot!

Once got pulled over by the police wearing a mini skirt and 3'' heels, on a freezing winter's night. Bit embarassing...anyway..

I'm sure you mean to include the word "while" between police and wearing? Makes for an entirely different mental image. scratchchin
