Has Steve Heath or any other TVR gurus done an LS3 transplant on the Tuscan?

What would be the total cost?

Try Craig at Dyno Torque(0121 753 0415), where mine was built, and a few others now too, he also did all the prep work on Danny Winstanleys Saggy racer.

..or try Top Cats Racing (01296 655 109). They are working on an LS conversion for a Tuscan right now.

Another vote for Craig, phuck you wanna see the exhaust he's done on his LS turbo! No bullst, just top quality work and he's been converting cars to LS for years. If I had the dosh, that's where I'd go.

There are a number of major short cuts open to people doing these conversions
Drive shaft angles, out of manufactures tolerance, for angle, speed and torque, would be the first sign of a poorly engineered conversion,
Whats the correct angle, Full tank of fuel or half or empty, One or two or even four passengers?
Mine has done around 22 thousand miles, gets used as a rep mobile and cracks 200mph, with over 600bhp on tap.
Theory is a wonderful place but sometimes you have to put practicality first..

The other big cost saving, is not to change gear/ final drive ratio,s the big V8 needs taller gears so seam like your not in top gear when your on big roads
Does your run? What's it like compared to STD?

Actually the prop output on a tuscan is within 1mm of he original speed 6 position ,and on a speed six the engine point down as the pick up is at the front not the rear as on a ls , the flywheel is as low as the sump so how low can you put he engine ?. There are a few people doing these conversions and they all seem pretty good to me . To get the headers in place with the where it needs to be is very very tricky but do able trying to use STD headers is a no go but we have a saying if it was easy everyone would be doing it !

Just go to Topcats - there is Simons Tuscan with a great LS7 conversion which is on its last phase of being finished.

Hi Paul - yep, nearly there. I've no objections to anyone having a sneak preview if Warren at TopCats doesn't mind of course. Would suggest a quick call to him in advance as last time I went over the engine was back out again as all the new mounts etc were off being painted and finished - I'm no enginner but have to say I'm astounded at their decication and attention to detail on my car to date.

I'll post some pics when it's finished (Just for clarity the pics above are not my car)

I was there this week using their tools and experience that they kindly lent me so I could work on my other toy and Brian was taking the supports off for the last time so your engine is in for good. I love your new exhaust ends - the quality of the finish of the cans is spot on - you will love it/

This thread has nothing to do with putting an LS in a Tuscan

Its just promotion for the people doing commercially

who also don't wish to share any technical info

so every time a serous question comes up, for example gear ratios

rather than answer it they post a silly comment

No offence intended, but I think you need to refer back to the question that the original poster asked before accusing people of posting silly comments.

You could always give them a call on the numbers provided if you wanted to know any technical info in particular...

This is going down the same route someone saying it can't be done and other people saying on can as has been done ( with proof ) then the silly responses come , I know we will never all agree but there are a few people doing these now , I have posted pics as asked ( it's not my car so would have to ask customer about about more info) . Walford said it can't be done I said ( and spub, topcats) said it could without chopping the chassis , and his response was I'm putting the std motor back in ? I don't get ? It has probably took me longer to make the headers than chop the chassis ! . So let's get back to the title ls3 in a Tuscan , I say yes and have done in so have others (with the correct prop geo) etc I'm not saying my way is the only way or that others are wrong we all see it different , . Come on guy
this is not the play ground it's a car
forum let's keep it civil and about the cars

But sure is that is a lot of work!

If done from any company it cant be done for 12000 quits
1. all mechanical matters, min 120 hrs work= min 7200 bpd
2. all electr work 60 hrs=3600 bpd
3. other fitments and adjustments
4. + engine LS3 maybe used one min 4500

So at least 15000, if you find someone who will try to do it!

But when have own workshop/garage and can do a lot by yourself
maybe you can do it for 10.000!

On other side a rebuilt nowadays offers 3 or 5 guarantee for much lesser costs.

The Ls3 is a proper good engine, but i would only go the LS way if min 5 cars
were converted by a reputable company with known results, because i do not have the time and facilties
to do it by my own.

But let us wait, maybe one big reputable TVR company will do a conversation
in future

No it is not like a Sexually Transmitted Disease
I asked what it's compared to STD not what its like compared to a STD, but your clever enough to know that. I ask simply because you post a lot on this topic & I wondered if like me your a keyboard hero or if you can actuly walk the walk?
