Tvr Power will be inviting all trade to the ultimate HP shootout very soon to see who has the most powerfull Tvr in europe (at the rear wheels) or wheel

lol .. the drag bike going to beat everyone i thinks then

shame it's going to be "very soon" .. in a couple of months would be much better though is this going to be "proper" tuning not just nitrous cheating? hehe

should be a great sight though .. what are you going to be putting up as your powerful car Dom?

edited to add : is the prize going to be for outright hp or best value for money?

All this is very interesting (chest beating and sniping aside)
My only question is" how does this stand in the bang for bucks stakes"?
Getting 280 BHP at the wheels from my 4L Chim sounds fantastic but is it affordable? How many K's are we talking here?

Couple of months would be fine, this shootout will be for Trade only and dont forget gents we only measure rear wheel BHP,public dont be disappointed there will be a hp shootout for all owners, Tvr Power will be offering fuel/Ignition mapping with MOTEC,DTA,MBE & GOOD OLD 14CUXs.

Blimey Dom, you are going for it.
Is that 4K estimate from somebody else earlier in the thread realistic, cos that sounds like very reasonable bang for bucks.

280 at the wheels, .. ah, what dyno was it done on.. ah, a dynojet..

maybe not then..

Don't want to knock what sounds like an excellent conversion, but 300 at the fly sounds more realistic.

Tvr Power only offer genuine Rear wheel BHP, every one states flywheel bhp Tvr power wont offer these figures simply because there are to many discrepancies in percentage loses,Tvr Power will be inviting all trade to the ultimate HP shootout very soon to see who has the most powerfull Tvr in europe (at the rear wheels) or wheel

So, is this for stock engines using only bolt on upgrades ie boost, or fully prepped engines which cost a bundle and which could be dyno queens? Any capacity goes so long as it's installed in a tiff?

I was thinking of another project, cheap and simple but some ground rules would be needed.

Just had the pleasure of driving Dom @ Power's Supercharged Chim 400.

Hi Claire

I went out in it the other week when Colin had it down my way

It did feel good still missing the torque

Will be interesting when a big one goes on a 500

I have the SC400 on test clocking up the mileage, boring job !!
I plan to take the car to the Mid Essex club meeting on Sunday lunch time, so members can view the car and find out more of the conversion.

If your local, have a TVR and interested, come along.

My 5.2 supercharged beastie goes on John Eales Dyno next week for its final set up. I was up there today sorting out the final layout for oil feeds etc.

It's usually quite hard to get the compression down on an engine over 5.0. I had to use custom pistons and buick heads to get to around 9:1 iirc. What boost do you expect to use?

John had some custom pistons made for me to get the CR down without modding the heads. His guestimate is 500 bhp at around 8psi boost but we shall see. Personally I think it will make more but I want reliability so I don't think we'll turn it right up.

Iirc I used 54cc head chambers and then used off the shelf forged pistons with 21cc bowls which are easy to replace at short notice. The rod end determines how deep the bowl can be plus they weren't exactly thick but they were proper turbo pistons. My calcs indicated 500 lbs/ft from 2500 rpm, can't remember what bhp it should have made. Don't know what happened to the engine after I sold it.
