Thats a pretty interesting intake

What length intake runners have you gone for?

Also you might want to consider a communication tube between the two plenums as something to try

I was thinking the same thing about the intake. Looks very nicely made. Is there enough volume in each plenum? Just asking the question, not trying to say if there is or is not. What heads did you use in the end, given the original topic?

Matt,

The runners are approx 7" from the back of the valve to the lip of the bellmouth.

You can just see the link tube, -10, at the back of the plenums in this picture.

Jonathan,

Rob at V8D sold me the heads, he explained at the time how the intake should be designed which i have stuck to it as near as i could.

Finished the air filter housing pipework install today. Very pleased with it smile

Just got to tweak the mapping. There's a guy local to me that knows a lot about mapping Motec ECUs apparently so I am going to contact him to see what he can do for mine. Then get the geo set up professionally and I'm done.

By the way, I can't believe nobody wants my old inlet manifold and twin plenum setup, it was the nuts. Have to sell it cos it won't fit my new heads

Need a bit of advice: I now have an oil catch tank instead of venting the crankcase into the inlet but the little foam filter at the back of the nearside rocker cover is pushing out a little bit of oil. I can pipe this into the catch tank as well but will this cause any problems?
I realise that I probably have positive crankcase pressure now instead of negative as before but will this cause any damage to seals or gaskets?

Thanks Andy

I had this same issue after my twin turbo install, in fact I had a major oil leak out of the valley, I disconnected the pipe to the catch tank and added another flame trap in place of the oil filler cap and vent boths sides to atmosphere the problem went away immediately,

That looks like a great piece of work. Be interesting to see what gains it gives.

What size RV8 have you got and what ECU have you gone for.

Very nice indeed. Job to be proud of.

I think the later post 1976 SD1 Rover heads flowed about 148cfm at the same lift, with Stage 4 Rover heads around 181.

I believe Merlin F85 heads can be maxed out to flow about 185 cfm.
What - that doesn't sound worth the hassle of entirely new castings, at all?

If you have a oil vent pipe from each rocker cover to to catch tank then you can just block the original oil breather on the back of the3 rocker cover.

Make sure the oil vent tank is large .. I bought a small one and its pretty worthless.

Ian, it's a 5.2 built by V8D and it's running a self installed Motec ECU

A friend of mine has purchased a pair of the Merlin heads to fit a 5ltr motor going into his Ginetta (the thought terrify me- anything over about 200 bhp is really to much for the chassis)- but anyway here a photo of the inlet ports, any ideas what the infill in the corner is for? Its going to produce a nasty little step when it butts up against the manifold?

Was thinking about a set of F85 heads but in the end went with the V8D stage IV heads.

Nice heads griffdude. Did you go for the Mk1 or Mk2 variant?

it can breath very well me thinks.
