Had a test drive of the 185hp D5 earlier today, overall very impressed and the comfort and space of the V70 was very good, with enough toys as well.

I've got a budget of around 15K, so would be looking for a D5 R Design with a reasonable mileage, probably 2009/ 2010 but there seem to be so few around....!?

Could anyone highlight any serious issues, and whether manual / auto is the better option? is the 2.0d too small for the V70?

Thanks

Look good and go well.

Minor gremlins to check
  1. tailgate lock
  2. electronic handbrake
  3. rising oil levels
nothing massively serious.

The 185 is easily ECU'd to approx 205 by many respectd Volvo tuners

Thanks very much, does anyone know if the heated seat option is linked to the electric memory seats? Or the cooled seat option?

What do you mean rising oil levels?..is it a fault with measuring the level?

Have a read on the Volvo forums, its to do with the DPF I think...... there was a revised ECU software released for the 185's to solve it. Worst case scenario it can lead to a 'runaway' engine.

That looks like a 2.4D (163bhp) as opposed to D5 (185bhp). Latter is worth more. They both "chip" to the same 205bhp scratchchin

Like it in red though and it has nice toys.

I sign that the dealer is not sure of what they are selling or a cheeky dealer passing a 2.4D off as a higher specification model (D5) - surely not!

This one has the D5 badge on the tailgate. My suspicion is that it is a D5, however the dealer has listed it as a 2.4D and the specifications link to data for a 2.4D.

If you get serious - ensure you check VIN through a Volvo dealer .....have known people end up with 2.4Ds as it had the D5 badge on the boot. Sometimes even V5Cs are wrong.
