Pre-facelft = no dice for me (personally)
This one just popped up on the Volvo Forums:

No pics (yet) but sounds nice from the advert. (the asking prices are always somewhat 'ambitious' on the Volvo boards I find - that will be in your budget once the seller puts his sensible hat on).
It's subjective, obviously, I wouldn't let that worry me too much though, rather, buy on condition/history. That one Roger listed looks nice, assuming it all checks out. This one just popped up on the Volvo Forums:

Thanks SSM, I think it may be worth a little look as its less than a mile from home, As you would have seem I behaved when it came to bidding on the grey 05 car last night, there was just a niggle for me regarding the history and the lack of it.

You know what I thought I had heard some bad things connected to them as well but I could not remember where from, pretty sure they are Croydon based?Any how I did not get it so onwards and upwards!
Hello, been observing in the distance for a while. Looking at getting rid of the Fridge (Honda Accord) and getting into V70 ownership. Really fancy a Euro 4 185 Geartronic, FSH a must obviously, but only really want to spend 4k ish..... Not been looking long, but I did miss one on Fleabay last month for 4,450 at 122k miles. Do you think this is a one off, or is everyone being far too optimistic with their pricing?
Just to add, been looking at this too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290829028415?ssPageName=...
What do you think? Are the older ones much worse?

Alex - Thanks for your note, I went to have a look at the local pre-facelift one on saturday, it never ceases to amaz me what people think is A1 condition, I would have described it as just above a shed! - I drove it and it was OK but had wheel bearings on the way out - Full Service History was last service June 2011 and 2 owners was in fact 4!
The VERY wet loading bay (No way was it just from a valet) was of the most concern!
The search continues....
Thanks for your links, I had seen a couple of those, I like the look of the first one.
One slight issue at home now, the boss says she does not want a silver one so I will keep looking but I have decided it is a face lift 04/05 one for sure.

Thank you Roger, I can't say I spotted that one. Leggy cars scare the bejesus out of me, but with FVSH that could be worth a punt. The miles thing is an odd one, I have had very low miles cars that have lived in the garage and starship miles cars that are really very strong and never went wrong, the highest miles car I have had was an Audi 100 many years back that I sold with 230,000 miles and it then become a minicab !
Audi 100, lovely cars. Had an A4 at 174k, both pretty old tech. Just common rail Diesels tend to make me a little nervous, the mechanicals of newer cars are so reliable, but all the gubbins to give the emissions (DPF, EGR, DMF and High pressure injector pumps etc) worry me. I was a car tech in the early days of Bosch K Jetronic, much after that and as much as I'd hate it, it may be a garage job when things go wrong!
Maybe i'll just accept I've been away from the trade too long and to stick to basic servicing from now on.......

Anyone have any opinions on 4C adjustable suspension?
There's a D5 near me with loads of toys and 4C but it's quite a lot of money and I'm not sure about electrickery suspension....

Unless it has receipts for a very recent renewal, walk away. There's a D5 near me with loads of toys and 4C but it's quite a lot of money and I'm not sure about electrickery suspension....

It costs £1000s to put right and they break habitually.
4C shocks cost £330 for the pair and they're very good.
