It rides very well. We dont do 'roll like a ferry in a storm' handling in our house , so it fits the bill nicely. Although the dealer seems to think he was not feeding his kids for a week while we were negotiating, which is typical. Bit of a step up from the V50, even though we liked that a lot, the man maths were, leaking steering rack, 3 buckled wheels and a refurb, DPF replacement next year and rear bump stops had fallen off, that it was just ready to move on before it fell into a trillion bits on the roadside !
Its back at the dealers to 'refinish' a front wheel again, as the mongs they used, decided to lacquer it, which is nice, but is doesnt actually match the 3 flat silver wheels. And to add insult to it, they even lacquered all the brake dust in the back of the wheel........... Volvo dealers eh......I did ask for a 'proper job' to be done......

Hi all,
This my new-to-me Ovlov bought a few weeks ago smile Bought for and featured in the Bargain Basement thread budget.
She's a 99 2.5T Auto with 109k miles ( just run in , bless biggrin ) with full history , Tax + MOT.
So far done a partial gearbox oil change, new struts and springs on the rear , 2 new tyres , 4 wheel alignment , and a quick tidy up . I'm pretty happy with her smile

Picked this up at the weekend, after a little bit of searching for a manual. 2008 with just 50k. Have come from Audi A6 avant but just didnt need all that space and so far really impressed with it. Not done any real miles in it yet but down to the Goodwood Revival on Saturday so looking forward to putting the D5 through its paces on some good dual carriageway and A road.

Bought a 2008 C70 D5 SE Lux a little while ago. Haven't gotten around to a proper clean or decent photos yet though! Off to Rotherham to buy some 17" wheels for it to ultimately put winter tyres on, I'll be interested to see how they affect the ride quality as it's really very jiggly compared to my 2003 V70 T5.

Picked this up last weekend. 61 plate D3 R-Design. 17k on clock. Really like it, nice and smooth, fast enough but still cheap to run and tax.

Just really wish it had a proper Ipod Dock rather than just aux.

Its funny, I have had many, many different cars of all shapes and sizes but now at 47 I'm firmly Volvo Man, my 05 V70 feels like it will outlive me!

I'm slowly chipping away at my boss for a company car and when he gives in I'm thinking either a v40 or v60 at some point or if not I will treat myself to a new Volvo when I retire in a few (8) years!

I can see why you feel like that. This is my first and its a bit rough around the edges (it was the cheapest in the country by some way) but I'm already thinking I'll replace it with another of the same when I come to change.

My D5 was also one of the roughest and cheapest around..... it served me exceptionally well, I did 30k miles in it (taking to 185k) and according to ASKMID and the DVLA website is still registered and running today. They are great, robust cars.
It was pretty much your 'V70 journey' that helped make my mind up on v70 ownership!

Its good to hear that the tinkers that bought your car passed it on and did not run it into the ground

My S60 will be 3 years old to me this February, I will have done 50k in that time and it will have reached over 200k in total. The longest time I've owned a running car.

She keeps on rolling.

5 years for ours on Feb 1st. done 40K in that time. We have a little runabout for the school and work run so now I've pretty much finished modifying the V70, we get to use it for weekend fun smile

Just sharing some D5 love, mine is one of the earliest that came into the UK, registered in September 2001. I've had it coming upto 4 years now and I've put 72k of the 166k miles on it, and it shows no signs of giving up any time soon, not bad for what is now a 13 year old car.
I start a new job on Monday where I'll be doing 60 miles a day, (20 miles less than previously) so I think I'll keeping hold of it a while longer, I had been thinking of letting go of it for something smaller/ more economical but its just not worth it as the Volvo is worth so little and having sorted out a lot of the common faults I might as well keep the old girl!

I was shocked to find it was still on the road a few months ago....

If anyone ever sees YH54 NAE for sale, please let me know, as im certain I would have to buy it back, even though I dont need it.
It would indeed be great to track it down
