I'm considering buying a 2007 S80 D5. I've found one with the specification i'm looking for, and have enquired about the service record. It seems to have been well looked after by the first owner, but the second serviced it at 80,000 miles, and it has only just now been serviced by the dealer at 110,000 miles (along with cambelt, w/pump, tensioners etc).

Should I walk, or is this larger gap tolerable? If there were loads around with the comination of spec, engine and gearbox that I was looking for, i'd leave it, but there aren't.

Thanks for any advice smile

I can't see it being a problem to be honest. They're a tough car and 30k without an oil change won't kill it. It's nod advisable but not terminal in any way.

It depends how it's been driven, has it towed etc. whether 30k without an oil change is a problem. If it were me, 30k without a service in the distant past (as in, having done many mile since) wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I'd be more worried when it's just had the gap as any damage/excessive wear may not have shown itself yet.

I think the earlier D5s ( like mine) were 12k between services, and later it was changed to 18k.
When I bought mine it was last serviced at 72k and I bought it on 92k so was well over due and I spent the next 6 months doing the little jobs that had obviously been neglected.

If its cheap enough go for it but have a kitty on stand by or use as a bargaining tool.
How much time has elapsed since the last service?

ETA - just realised its been 2 months since the last post!
