My cruise control is not working ( I do not use it anyway), I am getting an engine service warning message but no warning triangle. This happened last year and I had a clutch sensor replaced which cured the problem, last year I had a yellow warning triangle and the car did sometimes lose power, this time it is running perfectly. Can anyone tell me if the cruise control not working will make any difference to the running of the car. As I do not use it , so long as the car is running well, do I need it fixed.

You'd need to get a code reader on it to be sure but it's not going to be the cruise control affecting the engine performance.
It could be something simple like a blocked fuel filter.

You can test if it's the clutch sensor again. Start the car with you foot on the clutch and keep it held down. Press the cruise button and you should get the cruise message on the dash. Bring your foot off the clutch - if the light goes out as you lift the clutch, then it's the sensor.

Visited Volvo today and after diagnostics they said it was clutch fluid dripping on the clutch pedal sensor which had destroyed the sensor. Needs both bits replacing, 600€ here in France. Going to ask local garage if they can do it!

The amount of fluid coming from the cylinder will be tiny. It's really not worth changing until you start having to top up the reservoir on a regular basis.

What most people do is replace the sensor and wrap a plastic bag around it. It'll be fine after that.

As above. The sensor is a £40 part here in UK and you can fit it yourself. Just get a small freezer bag or something to wrap around it to keep it from being contaminated.

Thanks everyone for your input, will keep an eye on the fluid level and if I do get it done I will take it to local garage not volvo dealership, 50 miles away and too expensive, if you say I can do it myself it can't be too hi tech.

It's at the top of the clutch pedal and is held on with 2 screws I believe.
