Hi guys,

Hoping someone may have a clue.

S60 T5 2001 62000 miles.

Cruise control stopped working so brake & clutch pedal sensors were replaced with Volvo parts, old car, £40 ish, previous parts had perished.

Worked for 1 trip now stopped working.

Our usual mechanics totally stumped, first time ever, so we took it to a Volvo indy in Leeds, 2 hours they say have tried & no luck.

Any suggestions please.

What fault codes did it throw up? did they clear the original fault after fitting the new sensors?

Normally (and this happens a lot) it's the clutch position sensor that gets soaked with brake fluid, seeping from the cylinder, changing the sensor (it's a switch) cures the problem.

I'd have both sensors off and test them before spending any more money.

Thanks for reply, turns out Volvo indy of some 40 years doesn't have full diagnostic software, grrrrr, said take it to main dealer for a deep search, grrrrrrrr.

I know there is no fluid leak, both sensors were replaced, dry as a bone, just disintegrated with age.

Indy concluded it's an ECU fault or electrical, I suspect clutching at straws as they drew a blank

So the suggestion was take to main dealer for a deeper ecu search, suspect £60 ish for that, then find a good auto electrician.

Any recommendations re electrician please.

I had this problem on an Auto version 2002 S60 T5. There is a brake pedal position sensor mounted (I think) to the servo under the bonnet, not sure if this is the same sensor you changed but this monitors the speed you hit the pedal at and thus activates the emergency brake assist.

This failing will stop your cruise control working. Even if you have changed this, look for corrosion on it's connector terminals.

Also have a look at these links.
