2.0T Petrol 125,000 miles

Symtoms are.

-Intermittently won't start unless i put it in first clutch to the floor and feather the throttle.
-Hunting on idle (it revs a little by itself)
-Hesitation under any sort of load
-17.5 mpg
-Car wants to stall at low speeds/junctions etc

MAF can be ruled out i think as its been changed

Im thinking Electronic throttle module (didn't think this was a problem after 2002)

Any other suggestions car has had a full fluid service new plugs etc.

Different lights have come on at various stages

-Reduced engine performance

-EML light

-Engine system service required

Im stumped until i get it hooked up to a proper reader.

Help frown

Cleaning the ETM on mine got rid of the hunting issue massively. In fact it reminds me I need to do it again as it's been well over a year and its starting to do it again slightly.

I also had a problem with hesitation when pulling away which turned out to be an earthing wiring/fuse on the VVT so worth a look there.

This is on a 2001 plate though.

Update.

Car left me stranded on the entrance to a roundabout refusing to restart after knocking off at low speed and ended up having to get towed through insurance.

Mechanic removed the Electronic Throttle Module and it's a bosch unit which don't fail so just given it a clean and once it's in it's back to the drawing board.

Fuel pressure sensor/regulator
Fuel Pump

Seem the most likely

The Bosch ones do fail but it's almost always a total fail and not intermittent.
