Hi, does anyone know if Volvo are discounting the new XC90 yet. Priced one in June but no discount and I was in no hurry to change but it's getting nearer the time that I'll have to order a new car soon, and always being one for a bargain some discount would be great.
Thanks

Going off the current supply vs demand at the factory I don't see why they should discount it.

Certainly in the Middle East we have no discounts at all on the car, UK could well be different though.

They have already sold the anticipated amount of units for the full year 2015 so why would they discount when demand is far higher than supply. Most reviews are putting the car a close second to a RR sport but it's 20k cheaper, and in my mind has a less garish image. Can't wait for ours to arrive in October - never thought I'd say that about a Volvo smile

I know they are selling well, just wondering if there are any deals going before we go to order one. Looks like I'm going to order today smile Still quite can't believe I'm buying a Volvo! But I'll be glad to see the back of the Discovery it has cost a fortune to keep going.

How did you get on, did you place an order in the end?

Mine is due in October, order placed in March. Last conversation I had with the dealer, he was offering the 5 year service pack for £399 if you take out finance. But sounds like I could do better than that...

The guy I was dealing with wasn't there till today so went this afternoon. No discount yet and the demonstrator was for sale but only £1500 off new price. I will order a new one by the end of the week, we have to decide on the final extras and what colour ( Savile Grey we think).
I was going to order an Inscription and they have build orders in that I can spec how we want that will be delivered mid October, but they have an Eletric Silver Momentum that has a lot of extras on it that is in their showroom, I can have at the beginning of September. Thinking I'll wait till October but still can't decide.
I was offered 5 year service for £500 or 3 for £300 but not taking finance.
We both have Friday off so that will be decision day. I'll keep you informed.

Good luck.

I've gone for an R-Design, which I think aren't available until October, hence the delay since ordering. I've gone for Metallic Black after originally thinking I'd go for Metallic White, but when I saw the white in the showroom it didn't do it for me.

I've gone for the Xenium Pack, didn't originally fancy the roof, but when I saw it was happy it came as part of the pack.

Great, can't wait until they launch it - then wait another 5 years before it drops into my price range. Lol.
Same here. We have a 2008 one and I asked the other half what she wanted next. Her response was, a newer one. Can't argue with that, it's an epic piece of kit as a family/practical car.

Inscription or R-Design are the ones to go for, just finishes the car off nicely.

How so? Which bits?

I originally was interested in the R-Design, but the more I go back and forth across configurators on the RRS/Q7/XC90, the more I lean towards the base model. I think I'd just get momentum and then add a couple of packs onto it. Dont see the extra as any value on the Inscription?

Which is strange, as I'm getting bugged by my local dealer, despite each time I tell him to stop calling and I'll call him if I want to test-drive. Its like they're desperate for sales, whereas usually in this situation the order book would make salesmen more distant.

Has anyone actually got one yet?

When I looked at it in the showroom, I liked the quality and responsiveness of the centre ipad screen thingy, but when I looked at the SatNav, it seemed quite a poor quality map. i.e. low detail etc. Has anyone got experience to offer on this aspect yet, as a poor quality map would do my head in.

I too was of the impression that there was huge demand etc etc, but the local Dealer has 2 sat in stock now.

They had three demonstrators in Cardiff, what really surprised me with every car on display is how horrible the standard leather is. It's pretty grim on my 2008 C70 and an obviously far inferior hide to my 2004 V70 but my god the stuff they use now is VAG quality and indistinguishable from Vinyl. The inscription upgrade leather is basically what you used to get as standard.

I ended up buying a momentum that was in the show room, it had all the extras I was going to order plus another few bits and pieces. As mentioned earlier in the thread, if I spec'ed an inscription the same as the one I bought it was nearly 4k more, I'd have to wait till end of October, and not sure I see where the price difference is in the two models except a bit more leather. (I know there's more but I'd rather have the money at the moment. The TVR needs a retrim!)
I was offered the demonstrator, it was a momentum with almost all the options ticked but with no sun roof with 3k miles for a 3k discount but it was black and with three young kids the black discovery I have traded in is scratched to bits, it just shows the marks so easily.
In the end managed to get £700 off the deal so was happy enough.
Should be ready to pick up at the weekend.

Finally got round to driving it. Drove it back to back with aa new Q7. The downsides in my view were that the engine was loud, brash, and low on grunt. Also the steel suspension was really retro; way too bumpy, and my daughter actually said she got car sick! So air suspension would be a must for me. Unfortunately they didn't have an air car to test.
One final thing that might be a killer for me is that I think it would be uncomfortable for long journeys in that there is no left hand arm rest. You can't rest your arm on the centre console and touch the steering wheel at the same time. A daft omission, of which all of the peers in the 4x4 market have solutions to.

Picked up our xc90 on Friday. Is a D5 r design with air suspension and most of the extras boxes ticked. Have to say I'm very impressed - has exceeded my expectations in pretty much every respect. Tech is great as is quality.. Ride very comfortable and settled on air suspension. Traded in 3.0 d X5 against it and it feels similar in terms of pace - very tourquey engine.

Did you just buy the air suspension on a promise, or did you manage to test driver first?

I drove the steel spring standard version, but cant find an air suspension demo for love nor money!

I hadn't test driven anything when I placed the order - just read lots of reviews from magazines that I trust!
