Forgotten which site I saw it on, but a front wheel drive D4 is mooted to be arriving later on, so in time the starting price will be lower than £45k

Understated and classy, a pleasant antidote to the overstyled, uber agressive "angry eyes" styling these tractors usually have. Same as the last one really!

Roll on the next V70!

Great, can't wait until they launch it - then wait another 5 years before it drops into my price range. Lol.

The interior looks gorgeous, some very fine detail touches.

If I can afford one (if there are some REALLY good discounts) then I'll have one to replace our 2005 D5 SE. We've had the D5 SE for a little over 7 years and it has taken my family and I all over the UK and Europe in comfort. Truth be told I'll be sad to see it go but the new model looks ace!

There will be NO discounts for the first 24 months at least, and dealers have been told by Volvo that if anyone is caught giving discounts they will have there allocation cut! the days of 10k off of XC90 are long gone I think!

Rumor has it they're canning the V70 and developing a V90 as the new flagship frown

Agree. Think it looks fantastic. Could seriously consider one of these.

Depends how much volume they need to shift.

There'll be no discounts for at least 12mths I would think, but as soon as most of Chiswick has one, it may be a different story smile

I'll be interested to see how the new drivetrains work (auto gearbox is one of three poor points in the current version).

Also what the turning circle is like (another irritant).

Economy (the third) can't be any worse I would think.

We love our current version. No need to change it just yet so will be interesting to see what happens with the new model in the first year or two of its life.

A little diluted towards its rivals. The original is a very handsome vehicle.

Well just spent the morning in the Volvo dealers and they now a price and option list for the XC90, fully loaded T8 Inscription is coming out at 84k! Even a nicely specced D5 is pushing 70k, I'm off to see the car in a few weeks so will give feedback afterwards...

I've specced one up - D5 R Design with a few bits and it's coming out around £52k. When put against an RRS, X5, Q7 that's not bad value.

Has anyone seen any performance stats on the engines - MPG, 0-60s, etc?

Me too. It's so convenient. Hadn't realised the XC90 doesn't have one, but looks like you're right.

I'm also quite keen on my V8 diesel, and the Volvo's 4 pot engine doesn't fill me with enthusiasm.

On the other hand, Gavin Green on Twitter said that the Volvo interior was the best out there, this side of a Rolls Royce. And I'll admit that I'm a big fan of the safety features Volvo shout so loudly about. And the price (as long as you don't go for the hybrid) is not bad.

I guess I'll just have to wait for some road tests / a test drive before getting a true idea of whether it's a real alternative to my Range Rover.

The price list at http://www.volvocars.com/uk/Documents/Volvo-all-ne... shows performance figures on the last page:

0-62mph D5 7.8s / T8 6.4s
Top speed D5 137 / T8 140

The D5 is 2030kg min kerb weight and T8 is 2350kg.

There's a finance calculator on the site as well

Was slightly tempted to get T8 through the company but by the time I have specced it up am at £69k (Might as well have inscription [not that I can really work out what is included], big sunroof, top stereo..). Even with corporation tax deduction it would probably be too much - the tax savings prob only bring down to the cost of a D5 anyway! Mind you, would rather have a T8 than a first edition D5 for the same money

Well saw the car yesterday at the pre launch in Kent, its a stunning piece of kit, beautiful interior, the car was in crystal white with the amber interior, the boot is slightly larger with the 7 seats up, the console is great, D5 available from March and T8 from late summer, only 1500 cars coming to the uk next year.
