mileage 105000 X reg cost £750???

not a motorhead or pistonhead just a granny needing a car
and need to know if these are as good as they look?

have looked at older discussions, but most apply to other models anyone help me please?

Nope - Good cars - By the way, the T4 is a 1.9 litre. The T4 engine is basically a T5 engine minus a cylinder so the legendary T5 reliability goes with the T4 too.

Very little in the way of problems with the S40's just watch out for rust as all the dutch built Volvos don't seem to be as rust resistant as those built in Ghent and Gothenburg for some reason - check the front wings, up inside the rear arches and the bottoms of the door - its never terminal but can make them look scruffy.

As for the engine, Volvo claim 200bhp but i've seen many factory standard cars producing figures of somewhere around the 220bhp mark with no modification so Volvo were very conservative with the figures. They feel quick to drive but can be a little bit of a handful on full boost so make sure it has decent tyres all round and not some pile of crap "Wan-Li" or "ling-long" etc

Servicing is pretty painless, Cambelt every 40k is best although Volvo will tell you 60k (they do break if left so be careful) Decent semi-synthetic oil is all the engine needs and you may find replacing the odd coil pack once in a while.

£750 seems a fair price provided it's tidy. Cracking cars, try one, i'm sure you'll be impressed.
