Evening all.

I wonder if anyone can help with this query. I've been running the C30 for almost 2 years and still am disapointed with the lack of steering weight. Today I used the V50, which is essentially the same spec, however the steering is much more sensibly weighted and I find the car more satisfying to drive.

I am therefore thinking of trying to revise the spec of the C30 to match the V50, as I believe the components should be basically the same, but with different settings.

Does anyone know the which components have been used to change the weights of the vehicles, or could point me in the direction of a parts list, so I can work out the differences and how feasible changing is.

Thanks

Todd

is it electro-hydraulic or fully electric? if so, a simple software change might be the answer

Hi, thanks for the reply.

It's electro-hydraulic, I'm wondering whether a straight swap of the V50's steering ECU will work, so depending on how buried it is, it could be a simple swap. The rack ratio is the same, so the steering sensor input should be compatible.

I've found the part number for the pas pump and it is common, so I need to find the part numbers for the ECUs. Also wether the vehicle requires further coding to accept the part.

Volvos are fairly simple beasts so its likely the parts are interchangeable

I've managed to find a bit more information about the system on the net. The pump is common and the controller module is integrated into it. The different vehicle characteristics are created by loading software.

Hopefully this means that it should be a simple job. However I suspect for the computer says no response from the dealers (service is later this month), although as it doesn't interact with the ESP there shouldn't be a reason. So in which case an independant may be the answer.
