Traded in my very uneconomical 2001 Seat Ibiza Cupra remapped to 200bhp. Purchased a Volvo C30 D5 Polestar remapped to 205bhp and 450nm of torque. Pleasantly surprised!

Here's some pics smile Only mod I'm thinking of doing is to get a Milltek exhaust fitted.

I bet that flies.

What sort of performance does it give?
I haven't actually had it dyno'd yet as I only got it in Nov! It really shoves you back in your seat when you give it the beans, absolutely love it.

I did a completely unofficial 0-60 on an old runway and it came back as around 6.5 to 7 secs.

It felt a helluvva lot faster than that though!

Good cars and the D5 lump doesn't even sound that bad for a diesel.

Nice car, smile

Like it, the C30 is a very pretty car.

Seriously considering one of these. Kids have left home so two doors is no biggy. Small terrier and "our lass" to get around. It will need to do a 60 mile daily commute (mostly m'way and country A roads) reasonably economically. I don't fancy the 2.5 petrol but the 2.0 diesel looks ideal. How good a lump is it? Any pitfalls or faults to watch for?

I've got the 2.4 diesel d5 which as standard is 180bhp but mine's remapped by Volvo to 205bhp. So not sure what the 2.0 diesels are like, but as they're 4pot and the d5's are 5pot the I'd say you're better off getting a 2.4 diesel d5! Smoother, more refined, sound epic, happy to rev etc.

Mine still does 50mpg on average easy. Had no problems yet thank God. There aren't any huge known faults and touch would i've had nothing yet! The d5's need cambelt and aux belt change every 108,000 miles! Think the 2.0 diesel is less but not entirely sure. They're solid, you won't regret it. But if you can, get an r design version smile

Thanks, but 2.4 diesels seem quite rare. At least round these parts. Loads of 1.6Ds but I have read a few nightmare turbo stories about them so I'm looking at the 2.0 as it is a bit quicker and the fuel consumption is only slightly poorer. I'll certainly consider the bigger lump and try to track one down though.
