Gear changing noise on new V40

Had my new 2016 V40 for a few weeks now and put 650 miles on it. Overall a very good car and very happy. I was just wanting to know if others with a brand new V40/newer etc can hear the gear changing? When you drop it into 2nd or 3rd for example you can here it engaging. I had a very silent gear change on my previous car MG ZT CDTi that had the BMW engine, not sure if it had a BMW gear box?
The volvo is driving spot on but wondering if this is just how they are or if it takes time to settle in as it is still practically brand new.
