What bits are interchangeable on 740/940

Hiya.
I just got a 1990 740 for £75 that needs a fair bit of work, and the chance of a 1993 940 spares car has come up.
Anyone know how many items are interchangeable. Hopeing to use bonnet, wings, rear doors, estate hatch, bits of interior and trim, wheels etc.

A fair amount will - the whole cosmetic front end of a 940 fits the 740 - Engines are largely the same although the 2.0 740 lump was never offered on the 940 to my knowledge as most if not all 2.0 model 940s were turbos - The suspension is a fair bit different on the two cars at the rear so be careful if those are the parts you need. Essentially the 900 series was afar more modern car so many small revisions were made over the 740

Wheels will fit - many parts of the interior were different and more similar to the 760 and not the 740 - that said, they will more than likely fit - Volvos are simple creatures

What sort of mechanical work needs doing?

Thanks for reply, Sorry for late response, I had not seen your post.
On the 740, the mechanical is swap shock absorbers for MOT, fit flexi brake lines, and fit new fuel pump.
On the 940 Donor Car, its got a suspect head gasket, am still in 2 minds wether to have to a go at fixing it, as the car is in great condition and seems a shame to scrap it.

Brake flexis can be made to fit - infact I believe they also fit an 850! Fuel pump should work, shocks, again, depends on if they are front or rear
