C70 steel folding roof specialist

The roof stops part way through the cycle. The previous owner (a friend who bought the car new) had the problem & disconnected the switch a long time ago to prevent accidental operation. He gave up on it after repeated trips to the dealer fixed the problem for a while only for it then to fail part open, again.
I live in fear of this.
I have heard good things about Cayman Autos, they are pretty much the only convertible specialist I can find!
I spoke to my Volvo Specialist about this when I bought the car. He said they'd only ever seen two with issues and one was from the owner pissing about with it. THe mechanism is very simple and the fact it works at all suggest the pump and hydraulic unit are OK. It'll be a sensor or switch, and with the Volvo VIDA software it'll either say directly which sensor is at fault or by watching the readouts while the roof is in motion it'll be easy to see which one when compared to the sequence in the service book. Changing them looks easy and the parts aren't super duper expensive.
I know of one person who had a hydraulic ram fail and one burst hose, both fixed by the dealer. If that had happened you'd get no movement at all.

Well, I took my C70 to Cayman Autos. They did a diagnosis & gave me a fixed price to fix the problem which was a faulty roof control module.
Cayman did the work quickly & effectively, & whilst it was expensive, the module is only available from Volvo & that was the bulk of the cost. It still cost far less than Volvo would have charged & Andy knows what he is doing.
They even washed my the car before I collected it
