New V40 Discounts

I quite like the look of the current offer on the V40 R Design (£259 down and £259 a month). I would prefer an auto box. Has anyone had any joy getting discounts against this deal?

I owned a V40 and recommended one to a friend, the tight wad Arnie Clark garage around here (who I wouldn't use personally) discounted the car by £2,000 and Volvo finance assistance lent another £750 towards the headline figure when he went in to speak to them, seemingly without much hassle at all. By the time he had done some speccing up (about a grands worth of options) and a bit of a chat with the salesman the monthly cost was £239 if I recall.
