A plea for help from fellow Volvo Enthusiasts .
The Instrument Panel , or DIM as it is known has failed on my car . Failure was preceded by the normal spurious messages but now doesn't boot up at all . I checked the Volvo Forums and as a result took it to Revtronic for repair , however mine has a Motorola Chip which they can't change . So , I sourced at replacement DIM from the breakers .... same part number , but that doesn't boot up either .
Have I been unlucky and have purchased another faulty DIM , or is there something else I need to look at ?
Any thoughts and advice gratefully appreciated .

The Motorola chip doesn't need replacing, just resoldering. The chip is the only component that really causes the problems.
There's a guy on voc who repairs them with a 2 year warranty.
