New XC90 - petrol version?

Any owners on here of the petrol flavour of the new XC90?
I've decided to start looking at a replacement for our venerable 2010 D5 XC90 and looking at which options to try and get a weekend test organised for.
With diesel prices climbing ever higher and the eco-scientists seemingly on the warpath for diesel, is the straight petrol version any good? (The hybrid is too expensive IMO).
Am going to look at getting tests in other 7 seat rivals too (Q7, Discovery, Merc GLS (?), X5 (?), Range Rover Sport (?)), so will be taking my time on the hunt...but thought I'd start soliciting opinion.
