XC60 aux 12v connection

I have just taken delivery of a '66 plate D4 in which I plan to install a VHF transceiver. To do this I need to tap in a 20A supply from the cabin fuse board.
Looking in the passenger footwell I have found the board but even after some select swear words and cussing I cannot get the cover off the board.
Any suggestions bar a big hammer?
